City Prepares For 2017 Earth Hour

2017 Earth Hour in five symbols of Jakarta will be conducted to save electricity by turning off thousands of streetlights along 39 roads at 8.30-9.30 PM, Saturday (3/25). 

We hope the campaign is not a mere ceremonial, but become an habitual to continue saving energy

It also gets full support from City Provincial Government that is listed in Gubernatorial Instruction No. 46/2017 on Switching Off Lights on 2017 Earth Hour Campaign. All regional working units (SKPD) and regional heads are also instructed to smoothen it.

Lighting in those five symbols of Jakarta are City Hall building, National Monument (Monas), Arjuna Wiwaha Statue, HI Roundabout and Patung Pemuda will be turned off simultaneously, including the fountain.

National Earth Hour Capital Award Given for Jakarta

Jakarta Environment Dept. Head, Isnawa Adji asserted the city is committed to save earth through development programs.

"This is one form of education to the public," he stated, Saturday (3/25).

Isnawa asks residents and government to participate in turning off lights and electronic devices tonight, including buildings management.

"We hope the campaign is not a mere ceremonial, but become an habitual to continue saving energy," he expressed.

In the meantime, Jakarta Industry and Energy Dept. Head, Yuli Hartono will also participate in the campaign. It will also be done at 5,393 spots of streetlights along 35 roads.

"We hope residents also to participate in saving energy consumption," he hoped.
